About Us
Severn Freewheelers are the regional Blood Bike charity (1120999) covering Gloucestershire, Hereford & Worcester and North Wilts.
Blood Bike charities provide an emergency response, motorcycle based, free delivery service to the NHS; moving medical essentials, blood, pathology samples, frozen human milk from medical centres and hospitals.
All Severn Freewheeler riders are trained in the movement of their precious cargo and their objective is to alleviate suffering and reduce the funding pressures on the NHS.
Over 80 volunteers help Severn Freewheelers carry out their much-needed service. They run five BMW R1200RTs; all are emergency response equipped and the members handle some 4,000 call outs per annum, covering 150,000 miles.
Part of their fund riasing and awareness strategy is to take significant ownership and responbility for themselves - a message that resonates well with their suppporters - that startegy led to the creation of two Motorcycle Festivals, the Prescott Bike Festival, held annually in April at the prestigious home fo the Bugatti Owners Club at the Prescott Speed Hill Climb and in Spetember at Shelsley Walsh, the hone of the Midland Automobile Club at the world's oldest continually running motorsport track in the world.
